Review:
This is amazing. It's slow, it's dark, it's atmospheric and IT'S FUCKING HEAVY. This is truly funeral doom. Slow as hell, long songs and just full of unrelenting atmosphere that threatens to steal your soul and pull you down into a dark abyss. The songs sound so fucking creepy, so disjointed and so disturbed. It could literally be described as the zombie of death metal. Slow, unrelenting, disgusting and full of hatred. This is not an album for everyone, the songs are almost drone-like in quality. They're insanely slow, the songs often repeat for long amounts of time and it really takes a keen listener to get into it. This isn't the type of music you can play and get into around your friends, especially if they're not into metal.

The guitars are slow, droning and and just filthy, well thought out and atmosphere ridden. They're deep, crunchy and can very easily pull you head first into this album if you're not paying close enough attention. Just the weird and disjointed way the songs are written make you feel odd, it just gives off a sense of unease and fear. Whatever the hell they're tuned to is great, I wish I could do that. This is honestly one of the first albums to ever actually give me shivers down my spine, it's really THAT atmospheric!

The drums, those are the most disjointed of the album. They're played in a very weird and slow way that really keeps you off guard. It's very hard to drum at a pace as slow as Catacombs is going, it's very easy to lose the beat, get distracted or even just plain out forget what you were doing. None of these ever bother Catacombs, it's precise, slow and truly unnerving.

The vocals are the key to just how deep and dark this album is. They're really, really low growls that can last an amazingly long time and never fail to add atmosphere to the album. If anything they manage to make this one of the most odd and crazy musical experiences I've ever had.

Overall if you don't pick this album up ASAP you'll be missing out big time. This is what Funeral Doom is all about, this is the embodiment of funeral doom in 6 slow and dripping songs. If you ever listen to doom then this is a must have, it's a true funeral doom masterpiece.

BUY IT FUCKING NOW!

Review:
This is grind! This is badass! This is SWEDISH! it is all those things and more, this is a very well pulled off grindcore with some Swedish death metal elements and it's fucking awesome. The songs are short, well written and fast as hell! The structure is very reminiscent of Nasum and well actually... thats the bad thing, this album does sound and look like it could've been a rejected Nasum album with a "not as good as Nasum but still decent" drummer. But this is grindcore, it is very hard to be original and NOT SUCK in grindcore these days. The album is pretty short, another downside there while most albums these days easily surpass the 30 minute mark these guys come limping in with a Full Length that is just under 25 minutes, it could've used more songs thats for sure.

The guitars are pretty good, basically if I ever listen to Nasum you know what to expect. It's not bad, not great, just decent and unoriginal guitar riffs with the exception of a few brief moments where their Swedish Death Metal influence comes shining through. Then they grown into their own thing, but after that it's straight back to unoriginal political grindcore.

The drums aren't bad either, not great but they don't suck by any means. The drum beats are very familiar and you've heard it all before but they're tastefully pulled off and skillfully done. The blastbeats are very well done and the D-Beats are really nicely done as well. This is grindcore so i'm not going to hold the fact that they were very repetitive against them, thats grindcore drumming for you right there. It's decent.

The vocals are pretty good as well, just like i've said with the guitars and drums they're very average and unoriginal. While not by any means bad they're just very plain death growls. Nothing new, nothing cool and weird, no variety just well done (if not a little boring) mid-pitched death growls with a few random moments of George Fisher styled vocals.

Overally this really isn't a bad band and I know it sounds like I was really harsh on them, but you know what? That's because it's what they are. They really aren't bad, they're just a decent and forgettable Nasum clone. I did like the album, it was fun to listen to, I just there was some more variety and that maybe they could've made the album a little bit longer.

Give it A Spin!

Review:
Well... it'll be nice to call this a review, but it's not. This here is a bashing session, plain and simple. This horrible excuse of a band is fucking atrocious. The music is uninspired, boring, badly played, badly written and a waste of time. The riffs sound fucking horrible, they're trying to call this shit old school death metal and they have fucking Static-X riffs in a few songs! The lyrics are shittily written and based "loosely" on horror movies, and while the moviees may have been cool, this isn't. If anything this roving group of fags are actually giving horror movies, metal and music itself a bad name. I feel embarrassed to say that I listened to the whole thing, I feel embarrassed for the ENTIRE metal genre for having this shit released.

The vocals are fucking horrible, they sound like a retard doing fucking Darkthrone vocals mixed with a "Steveo on Meth" type vocal that honestly make you want to strangle whoever the fuck was making those "sounds". The guitars, bass and everything is fucking horrible as well, the riffs are completely and utterly shitty, they sound like one of the more forgettable 90's death metal bands thrown in a blender with Static-X pureed, deep-fried, buried, shat on and lit on fire just to be put out with some fucking aids infested faggot blowing a load all over it. The drums are equally bad, with the SAME EXACT BEAT being played over and over and over again with a SLIGHTLY different fill thrown in for good measure every now and then.

This is shit that'll make any metal fan worth their life cry and beg for it to stop. And think this over, i've given ultra brutal guttural shit better ratings then this, i've actually given harsh noise a better rating then this will ever get.

If you buy this you might as well go and pick up the next Lady Gaga or Jonass Brothers album because that is what you'll be dooming yourself to.

FUCK THIS SHIT.

Pus Vomit - Degrade The Worthless

Genre: Brutal Death Metal

Year Released: 2009

Label: Bergudo Records

Tracklisting/ Song Length:
1. She Died A Virgin (3:06)
2. Soaked In Her Own Blood (2:46)
3. God Help Me Rape The Dead (2:15)
4. Pungent Rotting Flesh (2:28)
5. Self Inflicted Wound (3:17)
6. Dead For Rent (2:58)

8. Dead Remains (2:23)
9. Retching Lacerated Entrails (3:11)
10. Dismembered Virgin Limbs (4:11)

Review:
I'm not a huge brutal death metal fan, I never really have been, but I know good music when I hear it and this isn't bad at all! Pus Vomit is a fairly unoriginal BDM band with obviously really talented members, they may not be very well known but they know what the fuck they're doing! It's not often that I can sit down and listen to something from a genre that I don't like all too much and end up enjoying it, this is one of those cases.

The guitars, while well done are very bland, usually they usually choose four rifs and stick with those for that certain song, then get rid of two of the riffs and add in two new ones for the ext song, it gets fairly annoying actually. While yes, that does annoy me quite a bit I can still say that those riffs were VERY well and skillfully played (except the breakdowns, but i'm not getting into that).

The drums, now this is where the album really shines, the drums are really well played and are full of badass fucking drum fills, their drummer knows what toe fuck to do on the drums and precisely how the fuck to do it! The blasting is great also, he never fucks one up, never loses a single beat (which is a real danger with blastbeats). The double base is also amazing, very well pulled off and throw in some fancy cymbal play and we've got the main reason why i'm not giving this album a really bad rating!

The vocals, the vocals... Shit they're not bad for what they are, the gutturals are fairly skillfully done and sound deep and well.... guttural. The gutturals are all nice and whatnot but what really got to me were the pig squeals. Those sounded horrible! Thank god he doesn't use them too much dude, if this were mainly pig squeals I don't care HOW good the drumming is, I would fail it. Thats about it for the vocals, if he sticks purely to the gutturals and maybe throws in some mid-range death screams this would be a LOT better!

Overall this is a fairly decent BDM band that has an amazing drummer but needs to work on song-writing and NOT DOING PIG SQUEALS.

Dusk - Majestic Thou in Ruin

Genre: Death/Doom

Year Released:1994

Label: Requiem Records

Tracklisting/Song Length:
1. ...Majestic Thou In Ruin (8:04)
2. Paled (7:58)
3. Thy Bitter Woe (9:08)
4. The Transfiguration (And It Was So) (7:57)

Review:
Wow, this is DOOM. It's slow, crushing, heavy and creepy sounding! It's atmospheric like a Dario Argento film and just a really nice listen. All the instruments are pulled off very well and the vocals sound great! Those sound very reminiscent of earlier Kam Lee vocals, which is a fucking compliment and a half right there! If you're into death metal and don't mind your death to be a slow one then by all means check this band out, they're gruesome, atmospheric, comprised of very good musicians (especially the drummer) and is just overall a very good album to listen to on a dark, gloomy, foggy night.

The guitars are very well played but you really can't tell just good of a guitarist he is by listening to this album. The guitars on this one, they're just not flashy at all, usually its a chugging, slow death metal riff or a few very brief moments of tremolo picking followed by.... another chugging, death riff. Don't get me wrong, it certainly isn't bad, I just wish it could've been more varied and change up a bit more often, it's good for the style they're playing but not much other then that.

The drums on the other hand are just fucking awesome! Full of weird fills, original cymbal work, really odd drum patterns and beats and just all around masterfully pulled off! The double bass thats thrown in there every now and then sounds really good, very precise, and fucking ungodly when mixed with the cymbal play (you can hear what i'm talking about in the song The Transfiguration). The rolls can last for a very long time and are very tastefully pulled off. There is nothing bad to say about the drumming at all!

The vocals are nice as well. They sound almost pained, very creepy and they always help the music go along. Like a mixture of Kam Lee and Soulside Journey era Darkthrone. They're very well done, the lyrics are very creepy and strangely haunting and just the overall lay-out of the vocal pattern is something that is not usually this noticeably cool. They must've taken a decent amount of time as to mapping out the vocal sections in the songs.

Overall this is a very good album from a US death/doom band that most people ignore for one reason or another. This is what we call badass death/doom dudes, i suggest that if you ever see this CD for sale at a used CD store or something, don't fucking hesitate to buy it!

10. Marital Decimation (4:16)
11. Pray For Forgiveness (Instrumental, Bonus) (3:40)
12. Dismal Dream (Rough mix, Bonus) (3:16)

Review:
YES! This is great! Fucking wonderful drums, guitars, bass, vocals... the whole nine yards are fucking badass! It's not often I have this much fun listening to a band ever! Everything about this album is outright metal and full of technical changes. Blood Oath's best thing going for it is that you can sit there listening to the album and try to work away at the depth of it, the many different riff changes, the bass lines, the amazing drumming and the ass kicking vocals!

The guitars are astounding! They are constantly changing, molding around the drum beats, forming shapes and images of death with they're constant variety of riffs, solos and tremolo picking. The solos are really badass, they're blistering fast, technical almost to the point of "wankery" but they pull it off tastefully and it really ends up adding to an already killer album!

The drums are even better, with the complicated, technical drum patterns and beats going all over the places. The blastbeats are amazing, the weird ass cymbal play throughout the album is fucking awe inspiring, the double bass is fast and fucking furious and the fills/rolls are very well done, technical and full of brutal fucking surprises. No complaints here!

The vocals are great for different reasons here. The vocals are very, very well pulled off and they're different from all your other tech/death bands out there, these actually sound good. They're not uber guttural shit, they're well done mid pitched death growls/yells and add to the music very well, the lyrics are very well written (just to make things even better).

overall, this is a really good album from a really good band, these guys have been out and about in the music scene since the late 80's and they still know how to kick ass like none other! My one negative comment that keeps this album from getting a pure five star rating is this: the breakdowns. There are a few breakdowns throughout the album, some of them are rather well done and actually add to the music, but a few of them just sound like the band is trying to sucker in "new" fans by throwing in a few unoriginal breakdowns. Don't let that keep you from buying the album though, those parts are VERY shortlived and the overall experience that this album gives you is truly worth the 10$ or so you'll be paying for this motherfucker.

Fucking Buy IT!

Review:
Well now, whats this? A drum machine band that doesn't suck? Damn right you are! These guys are a fucking insane chunk of death metal heaven (or hell). They have great song titles, awesome songs and just all around seem to be a cool band. The guitars are really nice, very downtuned and crunchy, the fucking guitar tone is just a fucking monster on it's own! This sounds like a combination of the truly disgusting and the outright brutal! Heavy ass riffs and a sound that is literally dripping pus and rancid sewage! The drum programming for what it's worth seems to actually have had some thought put into it (unlike most bands), it's not a great drum machine, but it's very wel thought out, they just need a better program. The vocals are really dark, really eerie sounding and just fucking gore drenched!

This is a badass four song demo that you need to pick up, it's almost perfect dude!

10. Ascending Into Vices (3:52)
11. The Inevitable Punishment - Faded Into End (Part 2) (8:23)
12. Mortal Repulsion (4:04)

Review:
This is a pretty badass band featuring members of Absu, Incantation and Master! Thats a insane combination right there dude, and you get exactly what you had planned, some badass death metal with some really sweet Black Metal moments, killer vocals, drums and solos! It's all an albumin good fun, these guys know they're not trying to make anything new or original and just have a lot of fun doing what their doing!

The guitars are some really cool shit! The riffs are very well done, you can really hear the black metal influence in there as well as some crushing death metal riffs in there! The solos are great, they're pulled off masterfully with skill and ease! You can tell that these guys were around long before this release and the momentous guitar tones/riffs/solos are amazing examples of truly heartstopping metal!

The drums are pretty awesome. With fills being placed in weird and odd places, being pulled off with insane talent and ease and just overall being a very nice addition to the music, definitely accents the guitars and bass nicely.

The vocals, these are great! Some amazingly well pulled off vocal parts can he heard throughout the album. But one thing really messed with me, and that was the occasional high pitched Power Metal scream, it's cool and I love power metal, but it really doesn't fit the music at all.

All in all i can say that this is a very fun to listen to album from a few really talented musicians, they could try to be a little more original but wheres the fun in that?

6. Dealing With Dilemma (4:57)
7. Cardinal Sin (4:00)
8. Hardcore Incorrigible (3:41)
9. Artificial Intelligence (4:57)

Review:
Assorted Heap isn't one of those well known early '90s bands, these guys are very underground and for the most part forgotten and obscure as well. If you pick up this album and give it a listen you'll be asking yourself "Why?" this is something that should not have been forgotten. This right here is very well done, very cool death/thrash with badass production! I mean seriously this sounds like it could've been recorded in fucking Morrisound! This is really some fucking killer metal that NEEDS to be found again!

The guitars are awesome, full of fucking insane riffs! Some of the riffs are very technical and sound quite difficult to pull off. The solos are awesome and sound almost Slayerish, and thats certainly not a bad thing. The soft intro on What I confess is really neat, and the riffs throughout the album and fucking brilliant to say the least. This is some sweet fucking riffing and soloing.

The drums are another great thing about the band, while maybe not as good as the guitars they're still very well and professionally played. A few really neat beats really add to the song structure and it's just overall great fun to listen to. The fills (as little of them as there are) are very well pulled off, if not unoriginal.

The vocals are decent, sometimes a little annoying but for the most part really well pulled off and pretty badass. I don't know what it is about the vocals but every now and then he'll pull some weird thing off that'll momentarily piss me off, but then instantly redeem himself with some Death styled mid-pitched growls.

All in all this is a pretty badass band, a bit on the obscure side, but you should check them out, they're worth the hunt!

Buy it if you can find it!

4. Addicted To open Graves (1:42)
5. Eat Shit! (1:00)
6. Let it Mature (Live) (3:02)
7. Mining The Arsehole (2:08)

Review:
This is some gory music right here! Straight from the bowels of a dead corpse to your ears comes this tale of gorefilled mayhem. Garbage Guts is a Australian Goregrind band full of rape jokes and necrophilia. They play blasting, gory goregrind in the vein of Rompeprop and Regurgitate.
The guitars are crunchy and downtuned beyond belief. The riffs are almost unspeakably unoriginal but they're still played well! The drums are actually really good, some great blasting, some really nice D-beats and some gruesome ass groovy parts really make this the shit, plain and simple. The fills are there in all their short glory and it's all just badass! The vocals sound great! Like a really low growl gone ass backwards through a pitchshifter, it's just gruesome!

The sound quality isn't very good here and the last song Mining The Arsehole is a really shitty song (maybe it's just because you can't hear a fucking thing thats happening). But overall this is a cool promo from a cool band, if you find it somewhere get it!

Give it a spin!

7. Black Hole Storm (5:35)
8. Riflegun Redeemer (5:04)
9. Cape Horn (6:53)
10. The Saw, The Torture, The Pain (3:10)

Review:
They're back! The almighty Asphyx has returned from the grave with a new album of madmess and hatred! Shit dude, this one's quite a piece of work. We've got a few unforgettable songs, a few great songs, and a few below average tracks. For the most part this album is badass from beginning to end, but we have a few flaws that I just couldn't get over.

The guitars are great, very heavy and downtuned. The riffs are fucking kick ass and chug along to the almost doom styled pace of most of the songs and it just sounds really fucking nifty. But I do have a few things to complain about here. The riffs, as catchy and badass as they are, for themost part are fairly unoriginal and actually times boring! Yeah, for example, the entire Scorbutics is mind blowingly bland and forgettable, but you know what? The good really outweighs the bad here.

The drums are pretty good, for the most part very slow and doomy. The actual drumming is fairly competent if not on the unoriginal side of things. They could be flashier, they could just overall just be played better to be honest. But, in due credit they really shine in the fills and rolls.

The vocals are good. Martin Van Drunen hasn't lost any power to time. The vocals are for the most part mid-pitched scream/growls that only Martin can pull off, they're very well done (of course) and really add to the album.

Overall this is a decent return effort from a godly band, nothing really new here but at least they didn't pull a Pestilence on us.

Give it a split!

3. Old Thunder (9:55)
4. Of The Monsterous Pictures Of Whales (1:52)
5. The Sermon (12:36)
6. The Hunt (11:13)
7. Ahab's Path (10:09)

Review:
This is one epic mofo of an album. 7 songs stretching over an hour long of incredible and just plain out mind blowing Funeral Doom. This is the type of music that makes Black Sabbath look like Regurgitate in comparison, and while that may draw most away from this album what it leaves us with are the insane, extreme metalheads up for anything! This is one behemoth of an album, and the music can literally conjure up images of a dark a brooding ocean. \

The guitars here are GREAT. Very slow, crunchy and very well played. The lead riffs/solos/whatever the fuck they are kick so much ass and are genuinely brimming with dark, twisted emotion. This is music that Moby Dick himself would rock the fuck out to. The soul-wrenching guitars really make this album a historical piece of metal and may god damn us all straight the fuck to hell, this may be the album that puts Funeral Doom as a household name (among metalheads at least). It is really that good, that influential and that mesmerizing.

The drums are fucking brilliant, for something going at the speed that they are (near nil) Ahab's drummer manages to pull off some very nice drum beats. The cymbal work throughout the album is nothing short on unholy in itself. The beats are slow and steady. The cymbals sound akin to giant waves crashing against rock. The very tap of the snare drum sends shivers up my spine as it sucks us into a world of black waters and a mysterious, monstrous behemoth watching and following every move.

The vocals, holy shit. The vocals are mind numbingly deep. They are terrifying and demonic, the mere growl is like a kick in the balls, hard, violent and devastating. They bring the listener into fathomless depths near the ocean floor, in the pitch black. And they leave you there, struggling to understand what just happened to yourself. The chanting, hypnotizing vocals that rear their heads every now and then are slow, haunting and mournful.

This is a MUST have album. I don't care what you have to do to get this album, this fact is, you need it to live. This is one brutally devastating and epicly haunting piece of work that I don't even think I describe this any longer.

A MUST HAVE!

It's full of amazing riffs, crazy vocals, awesome lyrics and intros and it's just an all around headbanging album! never before have I gotten that into a god damn breakdown before, and don't let that turn you away! This is straight up death metal, no fucking slam/deathcore shit. This is badass metal with badass musicians do badass things with their badass instruments.

The guitars are all around great (Thanks to Rogga). The riffs are catchy and very nicely played. They add some amazing atmosphere throughout and really set a dark and creepy mood for the album. I wish there were some cool solos through out but, fuck it, this is too killer for any form of complaining. This is where you sit back, relax, turn this on and prepare to be blown away.

The drums are very nice as well. The double bass is a constant reminder that this drummer "don't need no rest". The cymbal play is pulled off very nicely and the rolls/fills are neat (if not a little underused). All in all, it's shit you can headband to, if not overly technical (which isn't a bad thing by any means).

The vocals, now this is where it shines. Kam Lee sounds DEMENTED! He sounds like he just pulled his own ass out of a coffin and just started roaring. His vocals drip of evil, atmosphere and DEATH. The vocals for the most part are mid pitched growls with a few short higher pitched screams and some raspy backing vocals. Very nicely done. Kam Lee has not aged a fucking day (vocal wise at least, who's to say he hasn't gathered a few battle scars).

Overall this is a badass album, almost perfect to be honest, the few and far between minor flaws are very hard to pick up on and really don't hamper down the album much. For the most part it's insane Lovecraft based death metal the way it should be. Fast, unrelenting and fucking creepy!

BUY IT!

Review:
This is a cool band, i've been listening to their music for a while and I grabbed their new full length with some apprehension, i've heard that they'd lost a lot of their old goregrind roots. And listening to this album, i can safely say that that is not true! These guys are still grinding their asses off and it shows through in flying colors here! The songs might be longer, yes but the music is just a grind filled and disturbing as usual.

The guitars are badass, the riffs are fuzzy, distorted and full of hate. Some awesome things going on at the guitar section here. We got some really nicely placed and cool sounding riffs throughout the album (Cure For Life, Sea Of Limbs). Their hazy, deep, dark and disturbing, every note on the guitar reeks of death, decay and rotting dead bodies. On the downside I wish the guitarist would be a little more flashy, maybe less power chords, eh?

The drums are awesome! The technicality of the drummer is great! The beats stick with you, the fills are cool and it's (dare I say it) a blast! he does some pretty cool sounding cymbal play on the song Wretched Worms and the blasts and double bass throughout the album are just killer to listen to. This is some truly pulverizing drum work here!

The vocals are nice. A little too "brutal" for me at times for really well done none the less. The ultra deep vocals are a bit much, but the regular growls are really nice. Very well done! The high pitched screams are great as well, just full of badass and hatred. I am a little pissed that the ultra deep "brutal" vocals are used a little too open but the good really outweighs the bad here.

Overall this is a very good album from a very well established grind band, pick it up if you haven't already!

Give it a spin!

Gore Obsessed - The Devil Rides Out Ep

Label: Torn Flesh Records/Self Released (Free Download Release)

Tracklisting/Song Lengths:
1. Satanic Rites Of Dracula (3:12)
2. Embraced by Death (2:19)
3. The Devil Rides Out (3:19)

Review:
This is a pretty badass Ep. I've heard their second demo "Cannibal Holocaust" and that was pretty good, but this here takes the cake as one of Gore Obsessed's finest released to date. The production is nice, the drum machine isn't a bother like with most bands and it's overall horror theme makes things really fun to listen to. The guitars are very well played with some really cool riffs throughout the songs. i wish i could here a solo or two though, that would just fucking make the music! That would be awesome, for what it is though i can settle with the cool riffs. Now, normally I really dislike drum machines, but here It really wasn't a problem at all. The drums are tastefully programmed and for the most part sound almost realistic! The faster parts are really well done and don't come off as shitty or cheesy as they do with most drum machine bands so thats another plus. The vocals are pretty well done, I think a little practice could help before releasing a full length album, but for the most part i really can't complain at all!

Overall this is a very nice Ep, just enough to whet our appetites and to keep us on the look out for more. I suggest your download this now! (It's a free download release, not illegal).

Demoniacal Possession - Unholy Triumphant Demo

Genre: Death Metal

Year Released: 2010

Label: Self Released/Gravedigger Productions

Tracklisting/Song Length:
1. Fall Of The Holy Ones (5:08)
2. The Dawn of a Heathen Earth (4:10)
3. Unholy Triumphant (4:57)
4. Invoking the Dead (3:39)

Review:
This is the fourth demo from Georgia based Death Metal one man project Demoniacal Possession and this is really fucking good. A few minor problems, but none of those problems can be blamed on the musicianship or the music. The music itself is really good! The songs range drastically from fast paced and blasting to very slow and at times almost doomish. It's very nice to see a band that doesn't center itself around one specific sub genre yet incorporates bits and pieces from many of the most beloved subgenres of metal (i hear bits of Black, Death, Doom, and Traditional metal throughout the demo).

The guitars are very nicely done, a few really nice riffs and a few cool solos really spice this up and make it worthwhile.

Now here is my only complaint musically, the drums. The drums aren't bad, but many drum beats are re-used over and over again for different songs and while it's not terribly noticeable or annoying I added this in just in case their sole member decides to read this and possibly change that in the future. But other then that the drums a really nice, blastbeats and cool cymbal work are abound! (Check the end of Fall of The Holy Ones to hear what I mean about the cymbal work).

The bass is pretty nice but really doesn't add a great deal to the songs, it's mainly there to follow the guitar riffs and make the songs overall sound heavier and darker.

Now, on to the vocals. The vocals here are really one of the best things about the demo and one of the shining moments of Demoniacal Possession. They are great! Really varied, lots of different styles are used throughout. Really deep growls are used, some really cool high pitched black metal style vocals are also incorporated through out and I thought i heard a few Impetigo influenced parts in there as well!

This is a demo from a band that really needs more attention in the underground metal scene, I recommend you check it out and grab a copy from Time Before Time Records. And be sure to keep an eye out for the Debut full length which will be released sometime next year!

Badass!

Review:
These guys went from Brutal Death metal to straight up badass catchy goregrind! This is a ridiculously fun album to listen to! It's got some fucking awesome songs on it, only a few decent songs and I really can't even think of any bad songs that were on it! It's all just gory good fun and I wouldn't have it any other way!

The guitars are good. The riffs aren't like amazingly hard to play or fucking dumb "wanker" Uber technical bullshit, they're catchy and groovy and grinding! Scalpel Blade Removers has a fucking great catchy riff. It sounds like an old punk riff but way fucking heavier! Most of the riffs aren't too original and tend to get buried by the landslide of vocals, but I can't complain at all. Plus you can still hear the Brutal Death metal influence from their previous album which gives it that something extra.

The drums are fucking great! Really stylishly pulled off and very well done! Goregrind usually doesn't consist of great drummer but this guy is a fucking Head above the rest, it's just full of of really cool beats, well done blasts, some really cool rolls and fills and most of all some really cool cymbal usage! This dude brings a whole new meaning to goregrind drumming, it'll hard to top him! I guess the bands previous album really helped him gear up for some badass goregrinding! Kepp an eye out for this guy, he's a fucking great drummer!

The vocals are again, really good. Some awesome pitchshifted parts throughout, some equally badass Ahumando Granjo styled vocals are on there and there are some cool higher pitched vocals spread throughout. The only thing that really bothered me here was the occasional pig squeal, but that was kept to a minimum so I really can't complain at all. The vocals are well placed and really add to the music, actually, fuck that. it doesn't add to the music, the vocals and the drums fucking make the music, the guitars and bass are just icing on the cake!

Overall i highly recommend this album to Goregrind fans abroad, especially those just getting into the subgenre (the good production values will help get people who really haven't heard too much goregrind hooked on the shit like it's Heroine).

FUCKING BUY IT!

Review:
I'm gonna keep this one short.
I tried giving this a chance, I really did. But it's just not my thing, I prefer my grindcore to have a minimum of pig squeals and I just plain out don't like breakcore. but, I tried to give it an unbiased review, i tried getting into it, and i honestly listened to the full promo around 3 or 4 times. But it's just not for me. I thought the drum programming was just annoying, I thought the vocals could really use some help and I thought the bass just wasn't all that bass sounding. The guitar was the best thing about it and that was horribly underused. It just wasn't a very pleasant experience for me.

Overall, this really wasn't my thing, there is probably people out there that are into but this just wasn't right for me.

2. Thunderstorm Cold (5:02)
3. Take me To Valhalla (3:19)
4. The Death of Mithrandir (3:55)
5. Massacra (Hellhammer Cover) (2:26)

Review:
Now when i put this in, I really wasn't sure what i was getting in to, The only track i had heard before this Ep was their Hellhammer cover off of their myspace page. But safe to say, this is really good! It's not "grim and frostbitten" and it's most certainly not "depressive" or "suicidal". This here is really good old school intense black metal. The Ep has not been released yet and i strongly suggest any labels check the band out ASAP. This is a badass release! Everything on it fucking rocks, I could only find a few minor problems and that was through some hardcore Nitpicking. Like for one, they aren't terribly original. There certainly are a few other bands that sound a lot like them, but I can't hold this against the band, it's damn close to impossible to sound original AND good these days. The other problem is that the vocals are a little bit on the weak side, they're certainly not bad at all, but the vocalist could use a little bit more practice. The guitars are fast, unrelenting and soul-ripping! They conjure up images of Satan rising from the ground and ass raping angels, and that is one fucking sight to behold! The drums are over all really good, you can really tell the Venom and Hellhammer influences on the drummer, and any real metalhead knows that is quite a fucking compliment there! The vocals are like I said, a little on the weak side, but i see some really good potential here and well to be honest their actually pretty good. It's certainly something that I couldn't pull off vocally!

Overall this is a really good band that is just getting out there and could possibly be groundbreaking with the proper label support and a little bit more practice! Keep an eye out on these guys and look for their Ep!

Review:
Wow. Good Lord. What did I just listen to? This is something you'll be asking yourself after suffering through this split cd-r. It is noisegrind at it's finest. It's loud, it's dumb, it's noisy and most of all, it teaches you how to poop (listen to the sound clips throughout the IxWxGxYxCx side). It's funny, it's annoying, it's hateful, it's retarded and it's a little like have shit forced into your ears, except probably less comfortable.

IxWxGxYxCx has made 20 tracks of wild Furry Fecal "Yiffcore" noisegrind. These guys are the better on the split, at least their shit is listenable and the drums on it were pretty good. Speaking of which, if you're looking for instruments, looks somewhere else. IxWxGxYxCx has guitars or bass, I don't think you can ever hear them for more then a few seconds because the drums overpower just about everything but hell, at least it's there! (I really can't comprehend if it's a guitar or a Bass). The drums are the highlight of this split, as they are actually pretty well done, I mean sure we can all tell that it's complete random Improv but it's tastefully done random improv. The vocals are your normal pitch shifted deep vocals nothing new there. One last thing, after you hear the other "band", Blockhead's Guts, this will genuinely sounds like good music to you.

Blockheads Guts, oh dear. This is something that should never have to be endured by the human race ever. The whole band is basically harsh noise with someone screaming in the background. It's insane, this is what A truly criminally insane person must have going through their heads 24/7. I could see why they kill people now. This shit is ridiculous, I think it might've genuinely giver me a headache, I'm fairly sure it did. Jesus H. Christ! I'm not going into this anymore.

Overall, if your fond of noisegrind (and what cool person isn't?) I suggust you garb yourself a copy of this and let the Insane and Udmb noisegrind be unleashed upon your ears!

Oh dear!

5. Fear of Industry (1:11)
6. Downpipe (0:11)
7. Pigsticker (0:35)
8. Rubbish Planet (Fear of God Cover) (0:05)

Review:
Now, honestly, i was heading into this with pretty low expectations, which should be natural when you know close to nothing about the band I guess. But you know what? This wasn't bad! Not bad at all! Somewhat unoriginal but when you're working with grindcore it can get hard to be original and not suck. These dudes manage to pull off some really cool songs. Bacterial holocaust, Acid Satan and Pigsticker are the three that really stand out to me, and they brought this up from your average grindcore band to something with a lot of potential! The guitars are nice, some cool riffs throughout (although not amazingly original riffs mind you), for what it's worth they seem to be pretty skilled and I bet the guitarist could pull off some really badass riffing if needed (maybe a few solos, that'd be cool). The drumming is what you'd expect from a grindcore band, nothing amazing but it does what is needed, blastbeats, some cool fills and rolls and some cool cymbal play through out make it worth it. All I can say is that the drummer needs to spice things up a bit and this would be perfect! The vocals are pretty cool, some death metal vocals, some higher pitched vocals, you know grinding shit dude! I can't really comment on the vocals too much, they're well done but could use a little bit more variation to them (maybe some really low pitched stuff or hell dude, maybe a few short Regurgitate styled pitch shifted parts) but hell, i'm not a vocalist, it's better then anything I can do!

Overall i'd have to say the this is a worthwhile Ep from a underground grindcore band showing some real potential, check it out before they rear their heads at the next Obscene Extreme fest!

Acid Witch - Witch House 7" Ep

Genre: Stoner/Doom/Death

Year Released: 2009

Label: Doomentia Records

Tracklisting/Song Length:
1. Witch House (4:36)
2. Worship The Worm (3:46)

Review:
Alright, this is gonna be a short one because.. well theres only two songs on the Ep. Acid Witch is a pretty cool Horror influenced Stoner/Doom band with death metal vocals. Their debut featured Lasse from Hooded Menace on the vocals and those were awesome. Slasher Dave here takes over the vocals and does a really good job, maybe not as badass as Lasse's vocals were but still really damn good. The songs are slow, dark and doomy. The Guitars in the Ep are great and I really hope these songs show up on the full length, that'd be badass. The guitar solo in Witch House is really cool, I mean really cool! The bass is pretty damn good, but outright noticeable until the last minute or so of Witch House but i'm not complaining here. The drums are really good, really nicely done and skillfully played, they perfectly pull off a slow and dark sound. The keyboards surprisingly are really good, I'm normally not real big on keyboards but these are pulled off in a very cool Halloweenish style and just sound badass and original.

I recommend this to anybody, buy a copy ASAP!

10. Foundation (2:02)
11. Shoot First (Ask Questions Later) (2:56)
12. Masquerade (1:15)
13. Control (1:55)

Review:
I don't listen to a huge amount of crust punk so i'm going to give this a very unbiased review. This is fairly unoriginal and at times rather dull Crust punk with some heavy grindcore influences throughout (most noticeable in Skulls, Turn Of The Tide and Nightmare). They're a pretty cool band, a few great songs and a few horrible songs throughout the album. One of these horrible songs that stuck out was Shoot, Knife, Strangle, Beat and Crucify, this song is pretty much one 3 minute breakdown with the same few lines repeated over and over again. It was repetitive, annoying and well.... I just really don't like breakdowns, they suck (unless tastefully pulled off, I.E. Suffocation).

The guitars are down tuned, distorted and for the most part, badass. The guitarist really isn't too keep on changing up riffs and some of the riffs he uses get annoying after they've reared their ugly heads in the fifth different song on the album. The guitarist seems competent, and some of the non-repeating riffs are really, really good. hell, a few of the constantly repeating ones are cool. I must listen to too much metal because towards the end of the albums I was hoping for a quick guitar solo or two.

The drums are really well done, thrashy and filled to the brim with constant badass D-beats. The only time I really can't stand the drummer is during the really badly done breakdown filled song Shoot, Knife, Strangle, Beat and Crucify. That song is just a pain in the ass to listen to, I made it through that song once and was done with it, the rest of the album I listened to at least three times or so. Anyways, lets get back to the drumming. Other then his messy breakdowns I really can't complain, I wish he could've been flashier and used some fills and rolls but hell, thats asking too much now isn't it?

The bass is really good and is used in a few really cool parts and tempo changes, the bass and drum intros on a few of the songs are really great and are a blast to listen to. The bass, like the guitar, is downtuned, fuzzy and angry. Very cool.

The vocals are a different story, the vocalist can pull off some cool mid-range growls and shit like that, but his voice when he's "singing" really gets on my nerves, thankfully they only used those vocal styles on one song that I could tell ( Shoot First). The screaming and yelling that you normally find in Crust is here in all it's glory. The vocalist is very good at doing a wide variety of vocals on this album and it sounds really good overall.

On my final note I can say that this is a very decent foray into the Crust punk genre and should be checked out if your new to Crust Punk.

Impaler (UK) - Charnel Deity

Genre: Death Metal

Year Released: 1992

Label: Deaf Records

Tracklisting/ Song Length:
1. The Dead Know Dreams/Avowal To Hell (5:30)
2. Imminence Of The Final Punishment (3:53)
3. Malignant Dreams (2:33)
4. Accursed Domain (3:35)
5. Internally Rotting (2:07)
6. Impaler Of Souls (4:55)
7. Astral Corpse (5:33)
8. Emgulfed (3:01)
9. Total Carnage (2:43)
10. Repel Your Faith (5:32)

Review:
This is death metal in it's truest form. Early 90's, fast, brutal, and outright evil! Impaler can switch from ass blazing solos to a doom riff so fast you'll never believe it. They can do magic. This album is a long forgotten gem in the early 90's British metal scene. I don't see anybody really talking about these guys but I think they're amazing! Maybe not completely original, but it's fun, it's ruthless and best of all, it's death metal the way it should be! Yes, it's raw, it's brutal, it's skillfully played, it's all that and more! The lyrics are evil, the song structures are badass and it reeks of the '90s. This album needs to be re-released ASAP!

The guitars fucking rock! The solos could burn a mans face off, tape it back on and them rip it off again and piss on it. Yeah, I said it. The riffs are up to par with everything else going on at that time period, they are catchy like AIDS and almost easier to spread around! There is nothing to dislike here in the guitar department!

The drums are.... honestly a little lackluster. They're not bad and they fit with the music mind you, they're just very bland. Almost no fills or rolls, pretty much the same beat over and over again. Either a mid paced beat, blastbeats or double bass. Like i said not bad, but it really could've used some spicing up.

The bass almost exactly follows the guitars so it's no surprise there that it's pretty badass. Not horribly out-of-the-way noticeable but you know, it's decent. Not a lot to really say here, look back up on what I have to say about the guitars and just pretty much copy and paste.

The vocals are really good, mostly mid range death growls, but thast not bad at all! In fact, it kinda adds to the charm. Like i said earlier this is death metal the way is should be, those fag bands out there (i'm looking at you Beneath The Massacre) need to take a lot of notes on stuff like this if they want to ever be deemed listenable. A good way to describe these vocals would be to say picture a slightly deeper version of the Death vocals, you should be able to get it from there.

All in all, this is a really good, often overlooked and even more often forgotten gem of an album. Until we get someone to re-release this album then all I can say is keep your eyes peeled for it, you'll hate yourself if you miss the opportunity to own this metal beast.

Check it out!

Review:
Nothing new to see here folks. This is death metal, plain and simple. Maybe a little too plain for my tastes. Bloodbath is a band with great potential, they just need to start writing more original songs and play something more focused on what they're aiming for "Old School Death Metal". This sounds way to modern for what they're trying to portray for us metalheads. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad album or band by any means, they're just not great and fairly unoriginal.

The guitars here are pretty good. A few awesome solos (especially the one in Slaughtering The Will To Live). A few pretty cool riffs and all that are sprinkled throughout, but their missing something. They are too unoriginal and tongue in cheek for their own goods at times. Most of the riffs are very unoriginal and sound basically like mild variations of the same (decent) riff over and over again, played at different paces. They need to changes things up a bit here.

The drums really stand out in this album. They're skillfully played, they have some good rhythm ideas and they can get very technical at times (while staying along with the rather simple Bass and Guitar riffs). Some of the fills and rolls that the drummer pulls off are remarkable to say the least. But the same problem with the rest of the band persists here as well! A lot of the beats are re-used, a lot of the same fills are re-used on different songs and it just gets a bit on the repetitive side for me to be honest. Repetitive but very well played, not bad.

The bass isn't really too noticeable here, it's got a few standout riffs in a few songs but for the most part it's drowned out in the guitar riffs an tremolo picking. Too bad because what you are able to hear sounds really cool.

The vocals are GREAT! This is the dude from Opeth on the vocals here and I personally think he does a great job on Opeth and he gets the job done here as well! The vocals sound dark, evil and repulsing! he can pull off some great sounds and no one can fully copy his sound, he has a very unusual vocal approach.

Overall, this is a very decent band, unoriginal to the max and a little too tongue in cheek for my tastes but I can't really complain, it's good for a few listens but it's not something that should really stand out over some of the other albums released that year.

Give it a spin!

Review:
This is badass! Jesus fucking Christ! This is some slow, old school horrifying death metal! Everything about this kicks ass! A few minor difficulties here and there but overall this is an amazing album. (I'm especially surprised because I normally don't like Razorback or Ex- Razorback bands at all). These guys play some really good old school death/doom and the horror movie influence on the music is great! It doesn't come off as cheesy and it really adds to the feel of the music.

The guitars are great! Really well pulled off, really atmospheric, the riffs are great! The slow riffs, the faster ones, the solos.... it's all greatly pulled off! the only thing a can complain about is how every now and then they will re-use a riff, but really compared to what they're doing they could get away with murder. The riff that comes in halfway through the song Night of The Deathcult is my favorite, goes from melodic and atmospheric to chuggy and doom filled in a blink of an eye.

The drums are really well done, not completely original and the beats are usually re-used throughout the album but they're really done. They sound great music, they're talented, the fills and rolls are great, and hell even some of the cymbal play is pretty out there. I have to say, good job!

The vocals are amazing! Just gut wrenching growls and a murderous sounding screams. This is death metal right here! They're consistently well done, they invoke an unusual style of the death metal vocals, but they're pulled off so skillfully that it's just mind-boggling.

The bass, while not outright noticeable, really helps the darker portions of the music and just makes it gloomy and terrifying. Really not much to say then that about the bass, it's well done, just not overtly noticeable.

All in all, a few small flaws keep this from being perfect, but i'm sensing a future metal cult classic on our hands right now!

Pick it up!

Review:
Now, I hate giving bad reviews, I really do. But this is just unacceptable. Jesus fuck, my first review is going to be a negative one. Well, lets get to it. Nasty Pig Dick is a three man Brutal Death/Grind band hailing from Mexico. They've released two demos and a Split prior to this, but this, their debut full length is to be their Debut full length and their first release to be limited to more then 50 copies. That's why it's a shame to give them such a bad review.

Their Guitarist is just horrible, the impression he left on me was that he can play around four different riffs. And boy does he play the hell out of those four riffs... over and over again, for the whole album. It's annoying, it's very amateurish, and it really doesn't help the album any.

The drum programming is repetitive and really badly done. I don't think anyone in the band knows what drums are supposed to actually sound like, because these really don't sound like drums. They're constantly going out of beat, the "drum rolls" they have programmed in there repeat at random intervals over and over again (they must've been proud).

But for what it's worth I will give them some credit. The vocals aren't bad. I mean yeah, they're unoriginal and not very well recorded, but you can tell the vocalist has skill. He can pull off a range from throaty shrieking to low gurgles. I think this dude would be a lot better off if he were in a full on grindcore band, not this breakdown ridden, boring, watered down and unoriginal POS.

The bass...well, I didn't hear the bass once throughout the entire album, I don't even know if they have a bassist to be honest. Oh, but I have something else to complain about! The horrible overuse of sound clips from horror movies. Normally i don't mind them, but these guys are idiots. Letting the sound clips run on longer then the actual songs and whatnot. Actually they aren't even cool sound clips its just screaming, and they have sound slips in almost every song.

This is one upcoming album I'm going to highly advise you stay away from, it's horrible in just about every aspect other then the vocals.

AVIOD!
